TMI! – Information Overload!
There is SO much information out there on making passive income! I realized very quickly that I had to narrow it down.
What I will NOT be doing
I am not in a position to do real estate investing and be a landlord for passive income so I crossed that off the list. I am not comfortable with playing the stock market. Buying gold and silver may be a good long term investment, but I need something that will pay me NOW. There are great network marketing companies out there but I already know that I don’t have the stamina for that face to face constant hustle type of sales.
What CAN be done?
The blog factor…
I already have a bunch of blogs on different subjects on wordpress.com so I looked at what could be done with them… not much. The terms of service seem to preclude using affiliate marketing links. If more people came to my one site with a domain name (https://emunaendeavor.org/) then I could possibly earn ad money from WP, but none of my blogs aren’t buzzing with traffic even though I’ve had them for years.
What I will end up doing is switching to WordPress.org which feels daunting since I am not a big code person. I will basically be relaunching at least one of my blogs from scratch. I am reading some great blog posts by Raelyn Tan that go over everything from the very beginning before even launching all the way to how to get traffic. Great stuff!
The affiliate factor…
I mentioned affiliate marketing above and I feel like I will need that added boost since I am not selling a service like many of the other bloggers have seen. I will add to my to do list looking up if any of the companies whose products I currently use or plan to use on the trip have any affiliate programs. I’ll have to get the traffic to make it worth their while and mine so that is a concurrent goal.
The AdSense factor…
I am going to give AdSense another chance since it seems to be working on the YouTube channel for the sailing trip. The payout will happen when it gets to $100. It’s at $1.37 now so it’ll be a while though. In the meantime I have to work on the content so that there will be enough traffic to even make anything. That means learning better video editing with the tools I have and maybe purchasing better software. I’ll post more on that as things progress.
The print on demand factor…
I have a few art profiles on print on demand sites. Those require more promotion to be even the smallest amount of profitable. I do make a few dollars here and there from my Society6 profile though so I will have to ramp that up since I only get 10% of the sale cost.
I also have one of my poetry books on Amazon and I want to add the other 9 or so to the mix so that I have even more options for people to buy. The sales here are about 10% to me as well so more promotion, promotion, promotion!
For the sailing trip we are planning on making crafts projects during our down time that we will sell to make some extra money along the way. Yet again it all boils down to promotion and site traffic. The trip blog will have to be moved to WP-dot-org so that we can add a store to the site to sell the items on top of any affiliate links we put up. Until then we can use Etsy. Of course this isn’t passive income, but adding it to the list here anyways.
These are the things that are in the mix so far. We’ll see where we are a year from now.
Thanks for reading!
